Authorization Specialist

Location: Federal Way, WA

Salary Range: Depends on Experience

Employment Type: Full Time. Hours: 8:00am 4:30pm, Monday – Friday

Description: Applicants need to have knowledge of medical insurance billing processes, strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize, and attention to detail. Proficiency in Excel and Epic is preferred.
 
 
Responsibilities include:

• Communicate professionally with referring physician offices and facility personnel including clinicians or physicians as required.
• Entering orders entry into a database, scheduling, patient registration, and other clerical duties.
• Assisting/facilitating expedient and professional patient care.
• Contact insurance companies to verify medical benefits and authorization requirements for services.
• Respond to patient and insurance inquiries, and research and resolve unpaid accounts.
• Notify the Privacy Officer of any breach in security or leak of PHI or ePHI.
• Participate in all compliance and HIPAA training opportunities.

PREREQUISITES:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with database program applications including Windows.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Experience with Epic preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 2 years of previous experience with computer applications is required.
• 2 years of previous medical office is preferred.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to meet multiple deadlines consistently.
• Must have a great attendance record.
